Piece for self-playing piano, controlled (“composed”) in realtime. Software built with cycling74 Max.
Premiere: February 13th, 2006, HfMT-Hamburg, concert „DUET FOR ONE – DISKLAVIERKOMPOSITIONEN“
A chord-generator produces four-voiced chords according to changing rule-sets. For all these chords, a virtual fundamental is calculated, which helps to find additional tones of the spectrum. Rhythm rules (referring to Clarence Barlow) together with the found tones result in high resonant musical structures.
The piece has a fixed form, but every performance will sound slightly different.
The last version of the piece involved the kinect camera for control of chords and arpeggios (23.01.2014).
